Nova Scotia Roots Genealogy Mailing List

The Nova Scotia Roots genealogy mailing list has been in operation since November 1996. More than 900 people are subscribed worldwide at the present time.

NSROOTS is designed to be a medium of exchange for genealogical information pertaining to Nova Scotian families and is moderated.

The nsroots list is "open", which means that anyone can send a query or message to nsroots@ednet.ns.ca without being subscribed or from an E-mail account different from the one under which they are subscribed. As long as the message concerns genealogy in Nova Scotia it will be forwarded to the subscribers.

The list is sponsored by The Nova Scotia Genealogy Network Association.

The nsroots list is available to anyone with an Internet E-mail account. There is no charge for the service and it can be cancelled at any time.

The nsroots messages may also be received in the form of a daily digest.

There are two ways to subscribe to nsroots

  1. Send an e-mail message to nsroots- request@ednet.ns.ca with the word Subscribe in the subject line. You will receive a confirmation message which must be returned and then you will receive a welcome message with additional information about customizing your nsroots mailing list options.
    To subscribe in "digest mode" type Subscribe digest in the subject line.
  2. Use your web browser and go to
    http://mailman.ednet.ns.ca/cgi- bin/listinfo/nsroots where you can submit your e-mail address and customize your nsroots mailing list options.
