Certified Genealogists CG(C) and
Genealogical Record Searchers GRS(C)
GIM examination practices tests the ability of a certified individual
holding a GRS(C) designation to proving a working knowledge of
genealogical principles. They know, underestand and are able to work with
genealogical records, manuscript, typescript or printed and are able to
prepare abstracts of common documentation.
GIM examination practices tests the ability of a certified individual
holding a CG(C) designation to proving in addition to the above the
individual's ability to analyze evidence, to evaluate and if necessary to
verify imformation from secondary sources, to solve problems and to
prepare an adequate family history to accepted publication format. He or
she knows thoroughly the bibliography, historiography and terminology of
his or her particular area of genealogical research.
The following have qualified for certification after submission of work
samples and successful completion of written and oral examinations, and
are available for paid research.
