AC Bruce, Registrar of Shipping, Shelburne was advised by the owner on 22 June 1921, that the Helen Mathers was shipwrecked off the coast of Texas.
After one year she was sold to Cayman Island interests who floated and repaired her. She was renamed the Ellice B. , registered at Georgetown, Cayman Islands. After a piracy incident when she was apparently carrying 40,000 cases of liquor, she was renamed the South Head . She ran aground in Herring Cove, Halifax harbour on 6 Dec 1926, a total loss.
